Everyday at the Yellow School House, students will have the opportunity to learn in a remodeled 100-year old historic home in Downtown Prosper. Plenty of outside nature play on a half acre of land, where minds and hearts can be nurtured and childhood never ends.

Each week we focus on a theme and the students are in a class with age-appropriate literature, activities and games.  Camps are offered for ages 4-12 years old.

June 3rd – Storybook Adventures

Children will read excerpts from classic children’s books & fairy-tales, write, create art projects and activities to do with the storybook theme. Age appropriate books and an interactive experience.

Examples of books we may read from:

Ages 4-5 – Corduroy, The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Ages 6-7 – Amelia Bedelia, A Bear Called Paddington
Ages 8-9 – Peter Pan, The Mouse & The Motorcycle
Ages 10-12 – Anne of Green Gables, Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter

June 10th – Little House on the Prairie Camp

Learn all about life in the 1800s! Each day will be filled with new & interesting activities. Play pioneer games, and make paper dolls. Make homemade soap, fresh bread & jam, churn butter. The younger students will read from “Little House on the Prairie” and “Farmer Boy.” The older students will read from “Little Women” and “Davy Crockett”, sew a small project and make a candle. We will have plenty of outdoor play and a picnic.

June 17th – Field Day Fun

Several indoor and outdoor challenges, including minute-to-win-it games, chess, checkers, water balloon dodgeball, relay races, and more!

June 24th – Red, White & Blue Patriotic Camp

Learn all about the lives and historical figures such as Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin & Betsy Ross. Campers will learn patriotic songs and stories, make friendship bracelets, and crafts. Summer would not be complete without homemade popsicles, watermelon & a tie-dye t-shirt to take home.

July 8th – Science & STEM

Children will experience the wonderment of science through hands-on labs, demonstrations and experiments. Build a balloon car, make elephant toothpaste, SLIME. Math facts will be taught and reinforced!

July 15th – Music & Art

Get creative with music experiences and art projects. Does your child love to sing, act or create? We will learn from the Masters, play music games, learn songs, rhythm and percussion. Drama & acting scenes will be incorporated.

July 22nd – Build & Tinker

Build, create, tinker and innovate! Children will work together to build various structures and contraptions using a mix of mechanical and natural building components. Plenty of Legos to go around!

July 29th – Animals & Exploration

From the ocean, to the rainforest and the African safari, children will learn about different animals and even meet some exotic pets!
